PIERRE MARCOTTE BIOGRAPHY

Image
PIERRE MARCOTTE BIOGRAPHY- By Bernard Bujold -  I caught myself reading the biography (in French) of Pierre Marcotte (80 years old) who I briefly knew in another life while he was running restaurant Hélène de Champlain.  To my delight, I loved reading his book in a question-and-answer format, much like a big TV interview. In a sense, his biography is an overview of the history of Quebec from the 1960s to 2010, especially about the artists but also the restoration and the TV business. The book is ultimately a look at life and time who passed.  Conclusion: The more the times change, the more it's the same...  A beautiful reading.  SEE PIERRE MARCOTTE

STORIES FROM THE MALL

Image
STORIES FROM THE MALL - By Bernard Bujold-  In life we often develop affection for our suppliers at the market. It was my case for a Provigo teller on Nuns' Island whom I had been greeting every week for more than 10 years. Since a last week she was away and I wondered if she had any disease?  Well, I learned today, when I inquired from another cashier, that I would not see my favorite cashier again! The reason: she won 1 million$ at the lottery and she retired... It was a shock to me comparable, in a way, to death because I will not see her again. Obviously I am very happy for her!  Who knows, maybe having known her will bring me luck in an upcoming lottery draw ...  SEE PHOTOS

FACEBOOK AND ITS FUTURE IN 2018

FACEBOOK AND ITS FUTURE IN 2018 - By Bernard Bujold -   I have been a fan of Facebook since its creation in 2004 and I am convinced that the future of this social media is in no way threatened and that it is even promising, despite the fact that the network is currently experiencing a sort of existential crisis. Facebook has become essential to our modern civilization because the media has made communication between individuals easier and more effective.  The question of confidentiality requires adjustments, not only from Facebook but also members who must apply the various protection mechanisms already offered by the site since a long time. But we can not eliminate this social network because it has become a way of life in the same way as Google or Apple with its iPhones, iPads and computers.  I have always had a lot of admiration for Mark Zuckerberg because, in addition to the beauty of his creation, we have two points in common.  First: Facebook started...

LA PRESSE+ IN THE SPRING OF 2018

Image
LA PRESSE + IN THE SPRING OF 2018- By Bernard Bujold-  The Internet project LA PRESSE + would have cumulative losses of more than $ 400 million since its beginning in 2013 and $ 89 million lost for the last year 2017 in the balance sheet of the owner Power Corporation. Is this a sign of the end of the media?  The company La Presse has already completely eliminated its paper edition. Closing or selling the Internet version would not be impossible for the Power Corporation group because shareholders are very unhappy with the financial results and there is constant pressure to change the situation. JUSTIN TRUDEAU LOVES IMMIGRANTS

Image
JUSTIN TRUDEAU LOVES IMMIGRANTS...  By Bernard Bujold -  At a time when waves of illegal immigration are resuming at the Quebec border, the canadien federal public servants are at bay. They are worried about Justin Trudeau's statements inviting immigrants while government structures do not have the capacity to respond to demand.  This subject will most certainly be at the center of Quebec's provincial election campaign and could directly influence the vote on October 1, 2018.  To be continued  SEE STORY JOURNAL DE MONTRÉAL

NAPOLEON AT THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS OF MONTREAL (2018)

Image
NAPOLEON AT THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS OF MONTREAL - By Bernard Bujold- I took advantage of Easter 2018 to visit the Napoleon exhibition at the Museum des fine arts of Montreal.  The least that can be said is that my friend, collector and expert in Napoleon's history, Ben Weider (1923-2008) would have been very happy to visit it. Moreover, several pieces of the Weider collection are on display, including the famous felt hat of Napoleon that I had the chance to touch when Ben kept it at his residence.  The Fine Arts  Museum's exhibitions are always exceptional and Napoleon's is no exception. I also love their beautiful gifts shop but most of all, I never go to the Museum of Fine Arts without going to greet my old lady friend "October" who never gets old from one visit to another since the first one in 1991...  The Napoleon exhibition continues until May 6.  A must to be seen!  SEE ALBUM PHOTO EXHIBITION NAPOLEON
