THE MOMENTUM OF THE 2019 CANADIAN FEDERAL ELECTION

Image
CANADIAN FEDERAL POLITICS  By Bernard Bujold - With less than eight months to go until the next Canadian election, momentum begins to build in favor of Stephen Harper's former party party. According to the latest poll, the Conservatives lead at 36% against 34% for the Liberals.  The fight between Jody Wilson Raybould and Justin Trudeau is not over but Justin is in the cables and he seems in no way in a position to regain the advantage.  What is very peculiar to this momentum against Justin is that he is fueled by a struggle within the Liberal Party itself rather than from an adversary political party... In politics, momentum is always a decisive element and momentum "timing" is very important. Too early and it will change direction before the day of the vote, like a pendulum. The lifespan for a momentum up to its peak is on average about 1 year.  Jody Wilson's next move could be deadly for Justin Trudeau's future and decisive for Jody's next role in Cana...

JUSTIN TRUDEAU AND THE OCTOBER ELECTIONS 2019

JUSTIN TRUDEAU AND THE OCTOBER ELECTIONS 2019  By Bernard Bujold - Current Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has become a popular leader thanks to Patrick Brazeau, a First Peoples symbol he won over in a boxing bout. Indeed, it is said that it was this fight that gave Justin a "winning" image when he was considered before the fight as a loose Liberal leader.  Will it be another First Peoples symbol that will now destroy Justin Trudeau's career?  Jody Wilson Raybould is considered a true institution for First Peoples and, so far, she dominates the debate surrounding the Lavalin case, even if she does not speak publicly.  One wonders what would happen if she ran for the Conservative Party or the NDP in the next October 21 election.  One thing is certain, Jody is on the warpath and his enemy is Justin Trudeau!  To be continued...  SEE REPORT

THE END OF NEWSPAPERS IN 2019

THE END OF NEWSPAPERS IN 2019 - By Bernard Bujold -  Over twenty years ago, when I was in the management of newspapers, the best selling booth in Quebec was the one of Nuns' Island.  This small point of sale was the property of an old man, of Russian origin, with a strong build, but of short size. A few years ago, around 2010, the kiosk changed owners and a middle-aged couple, of Asian origin, took over. It was about the same time that the newspapers world entered a crisis of survival...  We could say that the new owners were not lucky in terms of timing!  Since the beginning of this February 2019, the small kiosk displays a "closed" sign and the few shelves are abandoned with in memory a few piles of old newspapers unsold.  If there is one conclusion, sad for the nostalgic of the paper era, is that the future of newspapers is definitely moribund and of the past...  VIEW THE PHOTO

DONALD TRUMP IS A GREAT PRESIDENT

Image
DONALD TRUMP AND HIS BORDER WALL By Bernard Bujold Donald Trump the President of the United States signed the National Emergency financing for the wall at the southern border with Mexico. Some media pundits are calling the President the most controversial of all time but it is not the case. Anyone who has read the history of the United States knows that of all American presidents, Donald Trump is the least criticized amongst all.  The Americans have always had many inside wars starting right from their beginning as a country. One also has to remember that in the American history, citizens killed four of their presidents and try to assassinate several one including Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan. One could say that American are tough people (tough cookies)...  In my opinion, Donald Trump will go down in history as the President who won despite and over the obstacles.  Of course, the history of Canada is not rosier and we also had our share of inside wars and batt...

THE HOUSE OF LISE THIBAULT IS FOR SALE

Image
THE HOUSE OF LISE THIBAULT FOR SALE -  By Bernard Bujold -  It is in this house, relatively modest at the time and today that it is said to be in need of repair, that Lise Thibault received her many guests at the social events she organized as Lieutenant Governor of Quebec. The whole of Montreal met there for various causes.  I once went there for an exhibition and sale of works of art. I have kept in my memory the souvenir of the pool, the kitchen and the rock in the garden in front of the house... God know why?  SEE REPORT
