LE CORONAVIRUS ET LES GENS ÂGÉS 
Les gens âgés sont en danger non seulement à cause du Coronavirus comme tel, mais aussi à cause des autres gens qui les entourent dans la société... En effet, ici au Québec, non seulement on refuse de les laisser entrer à la Société des alcools en leur disant que les 70 ans et plus ne sont pas admis, mais voilà que des jeunes citoyens les interpellent violemment dans la rue en leur criant de s’en aller à la maison! CORONAVIRUS AND THE ELDERLY 
Older people are at risk not only with the Coronavirus itself but also because of the other people around them in society . Here in Quebec, not only are we refusing to let them into the Société des alcools by telling them that people 70 years of age and older are not admitted, but now younger citizens are violently calling out to them in the street, shouting at them to go home! Good luck to the elderly!

STEVE MCCURRY AND THE GIRL

By Bernard Bujold -  Montreal Art Gallery GOT is presenting a unique exhibition of pictures by STEVE MCMURRY (born in 1950), the widely known US Photographer.  McCurry career was launched in 1984 when, disguised in native garb, he crossed the Pakistan border into rebel-controlled areas of Afghanistan just before the Soviet invasion. When he emerged, he had rolls of film sewn into his clothes. Those images, which were published around the world, were among the first to show the conflict.   The picture of the "Afghan girl" is considered a classic in modern photography. McCurry took the portrait of "Afghan Girl" in a refugee camp near Peshawar, Pakistan. The shooting lasted for only about 2 minutes and he took about 10 to 15 pictures. One of the image was however published in the National Geographic magazine and the girl face became famous as the cover photograph on the June 1985 issue. His look is particularly precise and detailed regarding the importance of ordinary citizens who have become the new journalists on social media.  A particularly interesting book as the US mainstream media face a real war for their survival against the new President Donald Trump.  A must read!  See book site

THE STORY OF LIFE - THE HOUSE OF SCORTA

By Bernard Bujold -  I just finished reading the novel by Laurent Gaudé: THE HOUSE OF SCORTA.  A french novel published in 2004 (Prix Goncourt) but I had not read it before...  I would say that this is one of the best books I have ever read in life, at least as to its depth look at human life.  The history of this little novel lies in a family of Southern Italy and makes us understand the deeper meaning of life, its successes, its failures and its conclusion, death.  If there is one conclusion is that the olives are eternal...  Photo 1 and 2: Images of southern Italy; Photo 3: Cover of the book; See description of the book ;
