VISITORS AT THE OLD PORT OF MONTREAL-

The Old Port of Montreal recently hosted visitors from a larger group and whose behavior was reminiscent of a feature film! 
Indeed, hundreds of seagulls invaded the Old Port to the sound of their cry and their hover close to the ground. The show was exciting but also very temporary because, as a good visitor, the tourist-birds stayed only a few days.

THE COURAGE OF THE WARRIOR -  By Bernard Bujold - According to military literature, one must know how to choose one's battles and never embark on battles lost in advance, otherwise it is destruction, failure and elimination.  I wouldn't want to be a merchant and be in downtown Montreal in May 2020 because that would be a lost battle!  Sainte-Catherine Street, which had been closed to car traffic because of construction for almost two years (closed in January 2018 and reopened in the fall of 2019), is once again a battlefield, and it will be so until December 2021 .  It's the whole downtown area, from McGill College (Indigo and Place Ville-Marie) to beyond the street of the Imperial Cinema (former palace of my friend Serge Losique), which is currently fenced off with passages worthy of the best secret corridors in China... STEVE MCCURRY AND THE GIRL

By Bernard Bujold -  Montreal Art Gallery GOT is presenting a unique exhibition of pictures by STEVE MCMURRY (born in 1950), the widely known US Photographer.  McCurry career was launched in 1984 when, disguised in native garb, he crossed the Pakistan border into rebel-controlled areas of Afghanistan just before the Soviet invasion. When he emerged, he had rolls of film sewn into his clothes. Those images, which were published around the world, were among the first to show the conflict.   The picture of the "Afghan girl" is considered a classic in modern photography. McCurry took the portrait of "Afghan Girl" in a refugee camp near Peshawar, Pakistan. The shooting lasted for only about 2 minutes and he took about 10 to 15 pictures. One of the image was however published in the National Geographic magazine and the girl face became famous as the cover photograph on the June 1985 issue.
